Very sorry to hear it @bloodmeal. A lot of people were hurt by this.
Not that this will make you feel any better, but BitGrail was never the “official” RaiBlocks exchange. For a while, it was about the only option however. It is only in the last month or so that larger exchanges like Kucoin, Binance, and OKEx started trading Nano.
There really are a lot of parallels between this exchange failure and Mt. Gox for Bitcoin. A badly managed exchange was taking losses and trying to cover it up for months. Finally, they couldn’t hide the losses anymore and went bankrupt. The problem was not in how Nano worked, but with the exchange software.
You might want to go to one of the newer support sites in post #2 above. There are a lot of people discussing this and helping each other.
